Meet Mr. Lou
Lou Santini is a former elementary teacher and reading specialist with 25 years of classroom experience.
A 2010 Michigan Teacher of the Year nominee, Lou spent his career helping children discover the joy of reading through fun, imagination, participation, and meaningful learning experiences.
Throughout his teaching career, one classroom tradition became a favorite year after year: reading The Gingerbread Man, making him, and trying to catch him after he ran away!
Students didn't simply read the story; they baked, decorated, searched for clues, built traps, and became fully immersed in the adventure.
That beloved classroom tradition eventually inspired the creation of the Get Up & Go Gingerbread Joe® Reading Adventure, which now brings the same excitement and love of reading to schools, libraries, and community programs.
